The two-day meeting of the foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) began in China’s Tianyin Urban City on Tuesday, with counters from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other SCO member states.
The conference is expected to focus on the latest regional political, security and economic development and coordinate preparations for the upcoming SCO Leader Summit.
Key topics on the agenda include strengthening security cooperation in the fight against terrorism, promoting multilateralism, promoting regional trade, and strengthening the geopolitical role of SCOs in Eurasia.
According to the report, bilateral meetings between foreign ministers are also being held on the sidelines of the summit.
For Iran, participation in the conference is seen as an opportunity to pursue strengthening economic, transport and security cooperation with other SCO member states.
