“The Cabinet therefore decides to declare the Persona Non Grata of Israeli Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gwil and is committed to registering them as unwanted aliens in the Schengen Registration System.”
He made it clear that the ban would follow the promotion of settlers’ invasions against Palestinians, the growth of illegal Israeli settlements, and their demands for ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
Verdkamp said the Dutch ambassador for Israel would be summoned, urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration to change its current approach, called “extreme and indefensible.”
The Netherlands’ decision follows a similar move last month by the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Norway.
The Netherlands is also the second EU country with Smotrich and Ben Gwyr and Ben Gwyr bars after Slovenia announced its own ban earlier this month.
In a statement, the Slovenian government accused the two ministers of inciting “the massacre statement” to “slaughter extreme violence and serious violations of Palestinian human rights.”
On Tuesday, Ben Gwyr insisted he would respond to the Dutch measures and continue to work for the Tel Aviv administration.
