“I concluded my first visit to the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the respected President, Asif Ali Zardari, my dear brother, Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif, and other political and military leaders of Pakistan,” he said, “A new chapter on Iran-Pakistan’s diplomatic relations has begun.”
Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Saturday and was headed by a high-ranking political and economic delegation. He was welcomed by Prime Minister Sharif on his arrival. He left Pakistan on Sunday.
During his visit, Pezeshkian held a series of high-level meetings with Pakistani leaders, including both heads of the parliament of both countries.
During a meeting with Senate Speaker Yusuf Raza Gilani and Parliament Sardar Sadiq, the president described the meeting with Pakistani officials as constructive and visionary.
“Iran and Pakistan’s parliament believe they will support the government in strengthening bilateral relations,” Peshshkian said he has expressed his gratitude to Pakistan’s parliament for its support for Iran following the recent Israeli-American invasion.
He noted that the Pakistan Senate resolution and the Parliamentary solidarity with the Islamic Republic reflects “historical brotherhood” between our two countries.
