A senior clergyman addressing worshippers on the University of Tehran campus said the Islamic Republic is a powerful fortress that, thanks to wise guidance, the enemy cannot take any action against the facility or take any action.
In response to some claims about changing the name of the Persian Gulf, Ayatollah emphasized that the Persian Gulf would remain the Persian Gulf forever and that no one could change its name.
Ancient Roman historians call the Persian Gulf the Persian Sea, and Arabic sources also call it “al-Kariji al-Fars” and “bar al-Fars.”
Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut said that attempts to change the historically established name of the Persian Gulf were firmly condemned, showing hostile intentions towards Iran and its people.
“The names of the Persian Gulf, like many geographical designations, are deeply rooted in human history. Iran has never opposed the use of names such as Oman, the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, or the Red Sea. The use of these names does not imply ownership by a particular country, but rather reflects a common respect for the collective heritage written on the X Account.
“In contrast, attempts to change the historically established name of the Persian Gulf have been firmly condemned, showing an intention of hostility towards Iran and its people. Such biased behavior is a humiliation for all Iranians, regardless of their background or place of residence,” he said.
