In an interview with the Guardian on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Ormat said that “Israel’s “proposed” humanitarian city” in Rafa is equivalent to ethnic cleansing and would operate as a concentration camp if it were to be realized.
He warned that the plan supported by Netanyahu and security minister Israel Katz represents a dangerous intensification of “Israel” continued violations against Palestinians.
“This is a concentration camp. I’m sorry,” Olmart said. Katz’s troops responded to instructions to prepare a blueprint for the South Gaza Strip to house 600,000 Palestinians. Under this plan, Palestinians would be prohibited from leaving the region except in other countries. Other countries are limits called unmistakable forms of forced displacement.
“When they (Palestinians) are deported to a new “humanitarian city,” we can say this is part of the ethnic cleansing. It’s not happening yet,” he pointed out, warning that the only logical interpretation of the strategy is one of forced expulsions.
