Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Esmaeil Baghaei spoke Peron warns that if the US threat is made, it will meet a prompt, decisive, all-encompassing response from Iran.
Baghaei spoke at her weekly press conference on Monday, addressing the threats associated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to the US and the threats to Iran.
Baghaei also rejected speculation that any possible speech could include the nuclear-free issue. “The negotiations focus solely on the nuclear file. The opposing claims are inaccurate,” he emphasized.
Iran condemns Israel’s actions in Gaza and quotes us accomplices
Looking at the situation in Gaza, Baghey condemned the “devastating crimes” committed by Israel, and Tel Aviv condemned repeated violations of international law and human rights. “For the past two years we have seen ignoring the UN Charter and international humanitarian principles. The attacks on aid workers, including the killing of 15 humanitarian officials, are just examples,” he said.
He added that these actions, including operations in the Rafa and the West Bank, are “undetectedly being implemented with US support.”
“Iran is in contact with IAEA following recent developments”
In response to a question about the phone call between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci and IAEA Director Rafael Grossi, Baguei confirmed that Tehran has expressed concerns about recent developments. “We expressed our expectations to Mr. Grossi and reminded the institution of its responsibility to all member states,” he said.
He confirmed the agreement for Grossi to visit Iran in principle, adding that details and timing are being discussed. “This is part of our continued technical involvement with the IAEA to resolve the remaining safeguard issues,” Baguei pointed out, calling on the agency to respond to the threat to Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in accordance with international law.
“Oman remains an important mediator in the possibility of indirect consultations with us.”
Addressing speculation about indirect talks with the US, Baghey reiterated that Oman has played a constructive role historically. “This is not a new development. Oman and the EU’s foreign policy directors have been promoting indirect consultations in the past. If the process resumes, Oman will become a key mediator,” he explained.
“We haven’t spoken yet. Tehran is waiting for Washington’s response.”
Baghaei refused to report the resumption of consultations with the US, saying, “The claims are unfounded. Iran responds to a letter from the US and is currently awaiting their decision. The proposal for indirect consultations is responsible and the future.”
Baghaei emphasized that only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is permitted to lead the negotiation process and dismissed all other speculations.
‘The Afghan Consulate in Birjand is not on the agenda
Asked about the report of the planned Afghan consulate in Birjand, Baghaei said, “We have not received a formal request. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not considered such a proposal. Establishing the diplomatic mission involves formal procedures and this issue is not under review.”

Reaffirming Iran’s longstanding stance on nuclear weapons, Baghey cited leader Fatwa (Religious Order) that banned their development. “Our peaceful nuclear strategy has not changed and is based on a religious and legal foundation,” he said.
“Despite regional differences, Iran and The Saaky have a strong relationship.”
In relation to Ankara, Baghey stressed that Iran and Turkey enjoy long-standing ties as neighboring Muslim countries. “Local disagreements should not overturn our cooperation. From the beginning of the Syrian conflict, we warned that Israel is supposed to benefit from the instability of Islamic countries,” he said.
“Trump’s letter was a mixture of threats and offers.”
Commenting on a report sent by former US President Donald Trump, Bagaei said it contained both a threat and a proposal.
“Our responses were balanced and we didn’t close the door to diplomacy,” he said. “Iran’s response was responsible and comprehensive in its approach to local safety.”

Baghaei criticized recent German policies against Iran and expressed his hope that the new Berlin government would revise its stance.
“In the past, the conflicting approach has hurt our bilateral ties and has had a negative impact on the Iranian people. We encourage reassessment,” he said.
“The threat of snapback will undermine the EU’s reliability.”
Baghaei responded to a recent statement by the French Foreign Minister about the potential revitalization of the JCPOA snapback mechanism, saying, “Europe has had an unusual opportunity to demonstrate diplomatic credibility.
“Iran is reaffirming the rights of Afghan immigrants and seeking orderly immigration.”
Baghaei highlighted the ongoing debate with Kabul, including migration, water and border security issues. “Afghans have been guests for over 50 years. Iran believes that migration is an order. This is a universal principle recognized by all governments,” he said.

Commenting on the US Congress bill entitled “Free Iraq from Iraq,” Baghhai called the proposal “inhumous” and came from a country that previously occupied Iraq. “The goal is to drive the wedges amongst obvious Muslim neighbors,” he said.

Baghaei confirmed that although no specific dates have been announced, preparations for President Pezeshkian’s upcoming trip to Azerbaijan are underway.
Iran has denied claims of Yemen’s military presence
Baghaei has dismissed reports that Iranian officials have been killed in Yemen as “unfounded counterfeiting” aimed at trusting Yemen’s resistance.
“There is no confirmation of such claims. Palestine peace is key to ending regional conflicts,” he said.
“The allegations about a conspiracy against Trump are in violation of being too ridiculous.”
He also dispelled reports of Iran’s supposed conspiracy to assassinate Donald Trump, calling the story “so exaggerated and unworthy to discuss.”
Baghaei reiterated that Iran continues to seek legal justice for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.
“The detention of Iranian people in France violates the Vienna Treaty.”
Finally, Baghaei criticized France for the continued detention of Mahdieh Esfandiari, an Iranian national who has been held for several weeks without explanation or access to consuls.
“This is a clear violation of Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. We are urgently pursuing the issue,” he said.
