A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump was held on August 15th at a military base in Alaska. The meeting lasted more than three hours, with the two leaders first holding a one-on-one conversation in a car on their way to the lecture. Their closure negotiations involved Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, as well as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special mission Steve Witkov.
Putin told the media after discussing the parties focused on resolving the Ukrainian conflict. The Russian leader also turned the page on bilateral relations and called for a return to cooperation. Putin invited Trump to visit Moscow. The US leader pointed to advances in the negotiation process, but noted that the parties were unable to agree to all the issues.
