The UN Office for Humanitarian Cooperation (OCHA) reportedly killed at least 300 people from Thursday to Sunday in a village near North Code Fan’s Rose, including children and pregnant women. More people were injured, more people were plundered and burned, and people were evacuated, reported by Xinhua News Agency.
Ocha said the confused communication links are hampering efforts to check the number of victims.
The office also said it was wary of reports of new artillery fires in the state’s capital, El Obeid. The attacks deepen fear and anxiety.
Ocha said that in Western Kordofan province, attacks in the villages of Alhura and Abu Zabad reportedly killed more than 20 people. The violence included air strikes at schools protecting displaced people. Humanitarian operations were also affected.
“These cases are another tragic memory of the conflict’s merciless sacrifices of civilians throughout Sudan,” the office said. Ocha emphasized that civilians and civil infrastructure, including schools, homes, shelters and humanitarian assets, should not be targeted by all parties for a dispute in order to fully respect their obligations under international humanitarian law.
