Unrwa’s head Philip Lazarini warned in a previous Twitter post on X that the resumption of the war with Gaza was “robbing” Palestinian children in childhood, turning besieged territory into “Noland” for children.
“Sharrowing,” Lazarini wrote to X: “Since the strike resumed, at least 100 children have been reported to have been killed or injured daily in Gaza,” he said, citing a UNICEF figure. “There is nothing justifying the murder of children.”
He lamented that “young lives” are “shortened by war rather than by children’s works,” and called for new efforts to protect Gaza’s youngest civilians by restarting a ceasefire.
He said 15,000 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the war began on October 7, 2023.
“The resumption of war is again taking away their childhood. The war has transformed Gaza into a ‘landless’ for children. This is a stain on our common humanity,” he warned.
322 Palestinian children have been killed and 609 injured since Israel resumed its war with Gaza nearly 20 days ago, UNICEF said.
Children and their rights around the world said in a statement Monday that one million children in Gaza are struggling with continued bombardment and an exacerbating humanitarian crisis.
At least 1,249 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel resumed a massive strike on war-torn territory after Israel broke a ceasefire on March 18th.
He said the number of injured people has reached 3,022 since the Israeli attacks resumed.
According to the ministry, the figures include 86 people killed in the last 24 hours, injured.
The province also reports that the overall death toll in Gaza has reached 50,609 since the war began on October 7, 2023.
