Tehran – Yousef Hojjat, Prime Minister of Tarbiat Modares University, has asked in an open letter to the presidents of all universities around the world to ask Israel to adopt a clear position and condemn Israel’s attacks on Iran.
“In the past few days we have witnessed the Islamic regime’s military invasion of the Islamic Republic of Israel killed civilians, prominent scientists and athletes in the country.
The assassination of prominent scientists and professors who are pioneers of science and knowledge and have always acted on the path of recognition, wisdom and peace is a terrorist and inhumane act that must be condemned by all academic and scientific institutions in the world.
Meanwhile, it is essential that the UN Security Council supports and implements Resolution 487 for invasion and military attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, including research centres and peaceful nuclear power plants.
Global communities, particularly academics and scientific leaders, should warn of potential nuclear pollution and express strong support for preventing risks caused by terrorists and military attacks in strategic regions of West Asia.
These criminal acts are violations of international rules and regulations, and under Article 39 of the UN Charter, they are clear evidence of the administration’s actions towards international peace and security.
I hope that all centres of science and knowledge and followers of peace, justice, wisdom and consciousness will oppose “crime against humanity” by adopting a clear position and taking practical steps. ”
The war on scientific advancement
The war imposed by the Zionist regime is not merely a military attack, but rather a war against Iran’s scientific progress and academic and intellectual communities, according to the head of the Institute of Culture, Social and Civilizations associated with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
Condemning the Israeli attack, Saeed Ziasi Nodushan said the Zionist regime was well aware of Iran’s scientific progress and was scared. That’s why they targeted nuclear scientists and brutally martivated them, Mehr’s news agency reported.
The assassinated scientists worked in the medical sector rather than the military industry. The assassination of scientists who were involved in research rather than military matters is never justified. It highlights the administration’s intolerance with their scientific achievements and findings, he added.
“Undoubtedly, their losses are a major blow to the country. But these scientists have trained individuals to follow their own paths. The international community needs to make sure that assassination of our scientists does not stop the scientific flow of the country.
After the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists during the Israeli attack, the Deputy Minister of Science detailed the scientists’ main activities, highlighting their work towards scientific and sustainable development and peaceful technology.
The assassinated scientists have made great strides in promoting the country’s progress, scientific independence, sustainable development and human safety, cited Payman Salehi as saying.
While it emphasizes that assassination of scientists is the same as destruction in the future, the formula highlights that nuclear scientists are being mistreated.
Israeli airstrikes on Iran began without warning early Friday morning, targeting civilians, scientists, military commanders and rescuers.
