Pezeschkian made comments in a meeting with the Minister of Science, Research and Technology and his agent in Tehran on Saturday.
While working on regional and international issues, the president emphasized that interaction with other countries is at the heart of Iran’s foreign policy.
“The Islamic Republic wants a dialogue from an equal footing, and does not want to negotiate with Iran on the one hand and threaten it on the other,” Peshshkian said in relation to the “maximum pressure” policy on the US and Tehran.
“What is the point of intimidation if negotiations are needed?” the president denounced Washington. “Today, America not only humiliates Iran, but its actions contradict the call for negotiation, so the rest of the world is another part of the world.”
Over the past few months, Pezeshkian has repeatedly said that Iran is equally ready for indirect negotiations with the United States.
He once asked President Donald Trump’s administration to avoid “sanctions and threats” if he truly wanted “peace and tranquility in the region (West Asia)”.
Pezeshkian further called on the Iranian state to maintain internal unity to stop foreign conspiracies, stressing that people must hold hands and cooperate under the leaders of the Islamic Revolution.
