Based on the evidence currently available, Iranian Russian ambassador, Kazem Jalali, stresses that the basis is not prepared for the resumption of indirect negotiations between the US and Iran, as Americans have not yet made efforts to correct their actions, or at least declare their position in this regard.
Speaking to Russian media Ria novosti, Jalali said there were serious questions among the Iranian people about the very purpose of the negotiations.
“If the lecture proceeds without the necessary guarantees, or if these negotiations become a trick of deception, how can we establish trust on the other side?” he added.
He noted that the Iranian foreign minister and other officials have repeatedly outlined the prerequisites for resuming indirect US consultations.
The US and Israeli attacks on Iran demonstrated how international law was sacrificed worldwide and was replaced by jungle law, Jalali said.
Under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), all member states retain the right to peaceful nuclear technology, including enrichment under IAEA supervision, and the treaty does not make a technical distinction in this regard, he said.
The NPT also bans military action against nuclear facilities under IAEA surveillance, he stressed.
Iran’s Islamic Republic is a member of the NPT, and its peaceful nuclear facility is subject to the most stringent surveillance by the IAEA, Jalali said.
In fact, he repeated that more than 75% of the agency’s total surveillance budget is allocated to overseeing Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Unfortunately, the IAEA and many other countries, whether NPT members or designated administrators, were unable to adopt a substantive position on the issue, he said.
Israel began an attack war on Iran on June 13th, killing more than 1,000 people, including commanders in chief, scientists and civilians. The Iranian forces responded strongly, causing widespread damage to areas throughout the occupied region. On June 22, the United States joined Israel and worked with the administration to attack three Iranian nuclear sites in violation of international law, urging global condemnation. The US-Israel invasion lasted for 12 days and ended when Israel demanded a ceasefire on June 24th.
