According to DW, Rubio said the reason for the move was that South Sudan’s transitional government did not accept the return of repatriated citizens in a timely manner.
“We are taking action to revoke all visas held by South Sudan’s passport holders and to limit further issuances to prevent invasion of the US soon as the South Sudan transitional government has not accepted a timely return of repatriated citizens,” he writes.
Rubio also said the US would “prevent further issuances to prevent South Sudan passport holders from entering the US.”
However, Washington is “ready to review these actions when South Sudan is fully cooperating,” Rubio added in a statement.
It was the first step to select all passport owners in a particular country as Donald Trump returned to the White House on January 20th, campaigned on anti-immigration platforms.
