American broadcaster CNN reported on Friday that the Trump administration is considering attacks on drug trafficking groups in Venezuela, citing multiple sources.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday called on the United States to “waive plans for violent change of government in all of Venezuela and Latin America.”
The United States should “respect its right to sovereignty, its right to peace and its right to independence,” Maduro said.
“I respect Trump. None of the differences we had will lead to military conflict,” he said.
“Venezuela was willing to have a conversation all the time for dialogue.”
Maduro mobilized Venezuelan troops. This figures around 340,000 soldiers among weeks of US threat, and among the reserve and militia members he claims to exceed 8 million.
“If Venezuela is attacked, it will soon enter a period of armed struggle,” Maduro told reporters earlier this week.
Trump said Friday that the US was “not talking” about the Venezuela change of administration.
“But we’re talking about the fact that you had an election that was a very strange election. To put it gently,” Trump said.
The reported deployment of F-35 fighter jets is on top of the accumulation of American warships and numerous Marines, as well as the US naval accumulation in the Southern Caribbean, a nuclear-powered, fast-sized submarine submarine.
