The Israeli Vivas family on Wednesday called on all Israeli officials to take responsibility for the death of their loved ones who were taken prisoner of Gaza, saying they could be saved, AFP reported.
“This disaster should not happen. You should not have been taken and you should have returned alive,” Ohri Vivas said at the funeral of her sister-in-law, Siri Vivas and her two nephews.
“There is no point in forgiveness before failures are investigated and all officials are held responsible.
“Our disaster as a nation and as a family should never happen again. They could have saved you, but they might prefer revenge.”
On October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, three Vivas families were held hostage by Palestinian extremists.
Last week, Hamas returned their bodies as part of an ongoing ceasefire agreement with Israel, which nearly halted the fighting in Gaza.
Siri’s husband, Kuffia and Ariel’s father, Yalden Vivas, was also taken hostage, but was released earlier this month.
Siri Vivas and her two young sons were killed in the relentless shelling of Gaza, Israel.
