Hotsam Abdel Ghaffer, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said the initial casualties of the fire at the Ramses Central office rose from 14 to 22, with patients being moved to Katameya, Al Munila and Al Demardash Hospital. Most injuries are caused by choking and first-grade superficial burns, and all cases have been reported to be stable.
The civil protection team’s directorate has begun cooling the building to prevent the fire from re-flame after the fire was extinguished, an Egyptian news agency reported.
The state-owned news Egyptian company said in a statement it worked with civil protection forces to respond to the fire immediately.
Power supply throughout the building was reduced during firefighting efforts to ensure workers’ safety and prevent the spread of fires, causing temporary disruption to some telecommunications services.
The company said all affected services will be evaluated once firefighting operations are terminated to compensate those affected, ensuring that the technical team is working to fully restore the services as soon as possible.
Separately, Egypt’s media-producing city reassured that the satellite broadcasting of talk shows and live programs on all television channels operated within the city was not fired and would not affect it.
It said the impact is limited to internet, landlines and mobile phone lines, and will affect the program producer’s ability to communicate fully with guests and sources.
The Egyptian National Railways Bureau has issued an apology for irregularities in ticket booking systems across the country, attributes it to an unexpected internet outage caused by telecom companies.
Moreover, Governor Giza, West Cairo, announced a technical failure in the emergency ambulance hotline due to the fire, urging citizens to use alternative phone numbers to request ambulance support until normal services resume.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation reported that “there are limited flight delays for some departures due to sudden and temporary failures in communications and internet networks.”
It revealed that emergency plans were immediately activated to ensure operational continuity, tailored to allow all flights to depart without cancellations.
According to the province, most flights were rerouted through alternative routes, except for a limited number of international flights currently being coordinated.
