Levy County paramedics responded to a fatal plane crash in a peanut field owned by Fgate Farms southwest of Williston.
All three people on the plane were killed, Levy County officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board worked with local authorities to respond to the incident.
According to air tracking company FlightAware, the plane was a twin-engine Beechcraft Baron 58P registered with a company in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Records show that the flight was scheduled to take off from the Springfield, Kentucky airport and land at Williston airport.
Records show that rather than slowing down as the plane approached the airport, it increased its speed and suddenly descended.
At the time of the crash, thunderstorms were reported to have occurred around the airport.
