Tehran – Famous Iranian-Amenian musician and conductor Loris Varian will be holding a concert and opera later this month based on Armenian Feldousi’s Shahname.
He will first stage a gala concert at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre on March 22nd, and a week later he will perform the “Rostam and Sohrab” opera, which will be held at the same venue for three nights from March 31st to April 2nd.
Tjeknavorian uses Iranian folk tales and traditional music in his operas. “From a young age I have loved the story of Shahname, the Iranian poet Abolkasem Feldoushi. Shahnameh is more than just a book. It is the national history of Iran, and all Iranians know the legends of Rostam and Sorab.”
He believes that Feldoush (940-1020) is the world’s biggest poet and that anything found in the works of William Shakespeare (1564-1616) also exists in Feldoush’s works.
The “Rostam and the Sorab” opera took 25 years to structure. In 1963, German composer and music educator Karl Orff granted Loris Wahn a scholarship that allowed him to resident in Salzburg and complete his operas in Austria. The 140-minute opera was then performed in Austria and Iran.
Born in Borgeld, Lorestan, the Loris Chen Festival (87) is one of the most famous cultural figures in Armenia and Iran. As one of the leading conductors of his generation, he leads international orchestras around the world and has been awarded many times at various musical events.
As a composer, Tjeknavarian has written music for six operas, five symphonies, choral works, Chamber Music Hall, ballet music, piano and vocal works, piano, violin, guitar, cello, Pipa concerts, documentaries and feature films.
His compositions have been performed by major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra Helsinki, the American Symphony Orchestra in New York, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, the Johannesburg Symphony Symphony Orchestra, the High Fan Orchestra, the Johannesburg Orchestra, the Medie Orchestra, Mayfer Orchestra, and the Mayfer Orchestra. A master percussionist, Strasbourg percussion ensemble and an English chamber orchestra.
From 2009 to the present, Tjeknavarian has spent his time writing and writing short stories as well as composing them. Among his recent works are the opera “Zahak” (scripted based on Feldousi’s Shafname) and “Maurana and Shams et Tabriz” (scripted based on Rumi’s poem), and the indoor opera “The Last Time of Sadegu Hedayat.”
