Tehran University of Medicine, Shiraz University of Technology, Baborno Silvani University ranks 501-600 worldwide.
Rankings by subject
World University Rankings 2025 placed 81 Iranian universities among the top universities in the world in 10 of 11 subject regions compared to 73 universities in 2024.
These 10 subject rankings include the Arts and the Humanities. Business and Economics; Clinical and Health; Computer Science; Education; Engineering; Life Sciences; Physical Sciences; Psychology; and Social Sciences. The 11th subject is law.
The best rankings in Iran are computer science and engineering.
The University of Tehran (401-500), Feldousi Mashhad University, and Shahid Beshti University (501-600), Aramitabay University, and Isfahan University (601) are ranked number one in the arts and humanities.
The University of Tehran (201-250), Sharif University of Technology (301-400), Feldousimashhad University and Iran University of Science and Technology (401-500) are the top four institutions in business and economics.
Sharif University of Technology (151-175), University of Tehran (201-250), and Amilkavir University of Technology (251-300) each ranks 1st to 3rd place in computer science, respectively.

Karmanshire University of Medical Sciences and Tehran University Medical University are jointly ranked number one (301-400), while Kazbin School of Medicine and Shahid Bediti University University of Medical Sciences are ranked second (401-500) in medicine and health.
The University of Science and Technology, Sharif University of Technology, and Tehran University were first ranked (301-400 worldwide) in physical sciences.
In psychology, the University of Tehran (401-500) is first placed. Feldousimashhad University, Iranian Medical University, Harazmi University, Shahidbeshti University, and the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences will then be placed in a global ranking of 501-600.
The top three universities in social sciences are the University of Tehran (301-400), University of Tabriz (401-500), University of Feldousi Mashhad and University of Shiraz (501-600).
Interdisciplinary Science Rankings
The Interdisciplinary Science Ranking (ISR) has placed 29 Iranian universities among top institutions around the world for interdisciplinary scientific research.
ISR is a project launched in collaboration with Schmidt Science Fellows. It ranks in a total of 749 universities from 92 countries.
With a global ranking of 77, Tehran University is the first to be placed in the country.
Shiraz University (132nd globally), Raj University (174), Feldousi University Mashhad University (187), and Tabriz University (201-250) were ranked 2nd to 5th place, respectively.
Shahid Chamran University and Urmia University in Ahvaz are ranked 6th in the global rankings of 251-300.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Ranking placed 32 Iranian universities in 2025 on the list of top universities in 2025 compared to 31 universities in 2024.
The QS Asian University ranking, which has been published annually since 2009, highlights the top universities in Asia each year.
The University of Tehran (87 global rankings) is the first to be placed among Iranian universities, followed by Sharif University of Technology (97 rankings worldwide) and Amirkabil University of Technology (114 rankings worldwide).
Isfahan Institute of Technology, Shiraz University, Feldousi Mashhad University, Tabriz University, Shahid Beshti University and Isfahan University are ranked 4th to 10th.
