Tehran – Seyyed Hamid Pourmohammadi, head of planning and budget organization, highlighted the strategic role of tourism as a driver of sustainable change during his visit to the historic Sa’d al-Saltaneh complex in Kazbin on Friday.
Pourmohammadi said that over 300 million people around the world are employed in the tourism industry, highlighting the economic, cultural and civilized significance of the sector. He then highlighted the country’s tourism sector in order to regain its legitimate share in this global market.
He said tourism is one of the fundamental pillars of sustainable development. “By leveraging new technology and smartly introducing historical heritage, we can create rich and unique experiences that attract visitors from close by,” he said.
Pourmohammadi emphasizes Iran’s historical and civilized capabilities, saying that the goal is not only to showcase historic sites, but also to acclimate visitors to past commercial practices. He compared the collection of Iranian museums during the Qajar, Sassanid and Achemenid eras to the periods of major museums in Paris and Istanbul, in terms of global importance.
He added the need to surprise tourists and create a cultural, civilized and culinary environment that engages in unique experiences.
Regarding unfinished projects and limited financial resources, Pourmohammadi acknowledged the national budget constraints amid the widespread needs of the state.
He concluded by highlighting that Iran can accelerate improvements in the tourism sector through cooperation and coordination.
