TEHRAN – Iran visited Tehran as part of an effort to expand its official invitation to Malaysian Tourism Minister Thion King Singh and strengthen tourism, cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
The invitation was formally submitted by Louz Kaldoni, an advisor to Iranian cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts, during his visit to Malaysia, according to a statement from Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. Kardouuni met King Sing and presented a written invitation on behalf of Iranian pastor Seyed Reza Salehi-Amiri.
During the meeting, the Iranian delegation expressed that Tehran is ready to actively participate in the Matta Fair, an international tourism exhibition scheduled for Malaysia in March 2026. Salehi-Amiri officially invited the Malaysian Tourism Division to participate in the Iranian International Tourism Exhibition scheduled for February 2026 in Tehran.
Additionally, Kaldouni exchanged views with Malaysia’s Deputy Tourism Minister Chua Chong Uwa to hold a Kartajaya conference to increase cultural exchanges, actively participate in tourism fairs and expand cooperation through the establishment of direct flights between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur.
Kardouuni said completing the memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation could pave the way for strengthening bilateral relations in tourism and handicrafts.
Officials say the validity of visas for Iranian and Malaysian citizens has been extended from early summer 2025 to 14-30 to promote mutual travel.
