Tehran – The ancient city of Ra in southern Iran is set to host the fourth Masgati festival as part of its culinary heritage.
This year’s festival aims to present Masgati as a national souvenir with global potential, but it shines a spotlight on Larestan’s rich culinary heritage, tourism opportunities and artisanal craftsmanship, according to organizers.
The three-day festival will be held on April 8th at the traditional venue Park-e Shahr (Boustan-e Mellat) and features a rich blend of gastronomy, culture, music and tourism promotions.
As in the past few years, the event includes three main sections, including an exhibition zone featuring local producers of Masgati, traditional foods and handicrafts from the Lalistan region.
It also includes an evening live demonstration where festival attendees can watch the traditional preparations of Masgati, offering an unusual behind the scenes to see this beloved sweet creation.
Stage performance is another highlight of the event. The music group from Lar, Khonj and the historic port city of Bandar Lengeh will take the stage alongside artists from nearby cities such as Yazd, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas and Shiraz.
The event will also be offering tours of Larestan’s historic and cultural landmarks, offering visitors a broader experience of the area’s deep heritage.
Organizers hope that by introducing Ra’s Masgati and the region’s culinary and cultural treasures, the festival will continue to grow importantly and continue to acquire its position as an important annual event on the Iranian southern cultural calendar.

It’s more than desserts that are often topped with l’s musgati, its soft, shiny texture and a subtle blend of rosewater, saffron, sugar and starch, and pistachio and almond slivers. It is a symbol of hospitality and celebration, and is deeply woven into the structure of the creatures of Ra and the surrounding villages. Served at family gatherings and celebration occasions, Masgati became the area’s renowned cultural ambassador.
