US President Donald Trump said he was ready to meet Iranian President Masudo Pezeshkian or Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Revolution, he said in an interview with Time.
“I think we’re going to do business with Iran,” he said elsewhere in the interview.
He also added that Israeli government Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cannot draw the United States into the war with Iran.
He made his remarks ahead of the third round of indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington, scheduled to take place in Oman on Saturday.
Earlier on Friday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaille Baghihai said Tehran and Washington had reached an understanding to hold technical and professional level sessions in parallel with the presence of senior Iranian and the US negotiators.
According to an arrangement held by the Omani host and agreed by Tehran and Washington, Baghey stresses that indirect negotiations between the Technical Council and the Iranian foreign minister and the special envoy of the US president are scheduled for Saturday.
The spokesman emphasized that progress in negotiations depends on the other’s goodwill, seriousness and realism.
He emphasized that Iranian delegations cannot escape efforts to coordinate every step of consultation based on past experiences and US actions and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Iranian people.
