On Monday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to lift sanctions against Syria. This also directs Secretary of State Marco Rubio to consider designating the country as a sponsor of national terrorism, Sputnik reports.
“According to section 7432(b)(1) of the Caesar Syrian Civil Protection Act of 2019 (22 USC 8791 Notes), the Secretary of State has found that waived the application of sanctions on certain individuals and entities is a US national security interest. LLC, Muruj Cham Investment and Tourism Group, Apex Development and Projects LLC, Kalai, Nader, Al-Amar One-Person LLC, Timet Trading LLC,” a statement from the Department of State reads.
“The division has also terminated sanctions on the following entities designated pursuant to EO 13894: 4th Division of Syrian Arab Army, 1st Division of Syrian Arab Army, Defense Forces,” the statement added.
