In a true social post, Trump said “Israel has agreed to the conditions necessary to secure a 60-day ceasefire.”
He noted that Qatar and Egyptian representatives will submit proposals to Hamas, according to Press TV.
Encouraging acceptance, Trump said, “I hope Hamas accepts this deal and it only gets worse if it’s rejected because it won’t get better.”
Hamas has not commented on the proposal yet. The movement says the ceasefire relies on Israel to end the war, withdraw entirely from Gaza and grant unlimited aid access.
A ceasefire for the past two months collapsed in March after Israel refused to implement the second phase of its contract.
A Hamas official said Tuesday that he was ready for a Palestinian resistance and decided to take part in indirect negotiations for a new round with Israel, with the intention of ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaching a permanent ceasefire.
“We are ready and serious about reaching an agreement in case the factors necessary to end the war are clearly stated. We are ready to agree to every proposal,” said Taher Al-Nunu.
The remarks came the day after Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatti said Cairo was working on a new Gaza contract, including a 60-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of Israeli prisoners of war and the rapid entry of humanitarian assistance into besieged coastal areas.
“Israel’s stubbornness prevents aid from entering Gaza. It is unacceptable to link the humanitarian side and the military side of Gaza,” he said.
At least 56,531 Palestinians have been killed, primarily women and children, and another 133,642 injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
The International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former military ministers of Yoayoa Gallant in November last year, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice due to its war with the besieged coastal territories.
