TEHRAN – US President Donald Trump confirmed he knew Israel’s plans to launch airstrikes in Tehran before they happened. However, he insisted that the US was not directly involved in the business.
Talking to Fox News, Trump said he “hopes to return to the negotiation table.”
His remarks followed Israel’s unprecedented air attack on Iran’s capital, which led to an attack on Iranian capital early on Friday. The result was General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, and two nuclear scientists, Mohammad Mahammad Mahdi Tehranchi Ambasi Dr.
Trump said he spoke to Israeli “crime prime minister” Netanyahu over the past few days. He claimed that Washington did not take part in the strike, confirming that US officials had been notified in advance.
However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry claims that without US coordination, the attack would not have been carried out. In a previous statement, Iran warned that the US was responsible for the “dangerous consequences” of Israel’s “adventurism.”
“The Zionist regime’s aggressive actions against Iran could not have been taken without US coordination and approval,” the ministry said, adding that Iran reserves the right to respond under international law.
Meanwhile, Trump said he is closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing that CENTCOM is taking high vigilance over the possibility of Iran’s retaliation. “The United States is ready to defend itself and Israel,” he said, repeating his hope that Tehran will eventually return to the negotiation table.
Trump has also confirmed in recent weeks that the US has restocked Israel’s iron dome missile defense system.
