“I’ve done something very successful with President Putin. I had a huge success in a conference with President Zelensky. And now I thought it would be better if they met without me. “They are in the process of setting it up (possible meetings) and we’re going to see what happens,” he added.
Trump also expressed optimism about resolving the Ukrainian conflict. “You have to be a little optimistic,” he said as he asked each question.
Meanwhile, the American leader pointed out that solving the Ukraine crisis proved to be more difficult than he had expected.
On August 18, Trump held a meeting between Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky and EU leaders. After these talks, Trump called out his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. On a 40-minute call, the US leaders discussed the trilateral meeting with Trump Present, retaining a one-on-one presence between Putin and Zelensky. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said he supports the idea that Russian and US leaders would hold additional in-person meetings between Moscow and Kiev.
