President Donald Trump threatened additional tariffs in China on Monday, raising new concerns that his willingness to readjust the global economy could lead to a trade war, the Associated Press reported Monday.
The Trump threat he provided on social media comes after China said it would retaliate against US tariffs announced last week.
“If China does not exceed long-term trading abuse by 34% by tomorrow, April 8, 2025, the US will impose additional tariffs on China on April 9th,” he writes about the true society. “In addition, all consultations with China regarding the requested meeting with us are concluded!
Trump remains rebellious as stock markets continue to plummet and fears of the recession have risen.
“Strong, courageous, patient, greatness comes to the conclusion!” he wrote.
Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1,200 points as trading began Monday morning, with the S&P 500 on track to enter the bear market. Even some Trump allies have warned about economic damage, and financial forecasts suggest more pain on the horizon for American businesses, consumers and investors.
