US President Donald Trump has publicly welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “hero of war.”
Speaking to conservative radio host Mark Levin, Trump said: “He’s a good guy. He’s there. He’s fighting. He’s a war hero because he worked with him. He’s a war hero. I think so too.”
This statement comes as a reel from Gaza’s deepening of merciless Israeli attacks and hunger.
Since Wednesday’s dawn alone, Israeli forces have killed dozens more Palestinians.
The overall death toll since October 2023 has exceeded 62,000, with tens of thousands more injured.
Trump dismissed efforts to hold Netanyahu accountable, claiming that “they are trying to put him in prison.” It was unclear whether he mentioned the ICC warrant and the Netanyahu domestic corruption case. In June, Trump openly called for rejecting Netanyahu’s corruption trial.
The US leader also claimed that he “worked hard” to secure the release of Israeli prisoners in past negotiations with Palestinian resistance group Hamas, saying, “I’ve taken all the hostages back… I have lots of letters from my parents and children… I’d have them back.
Meanwhile, Gaza faces devastating hunger. The UN agency warns that the hunger threshold has reached parts of the enclave, with more than 266 people dead from starvation, including at least 122 children. More than half a million Palestinians are on the brink of hunger, and aid groups say restrictions on Israeli food and medical supplies are driving the crisis.
