In his remarks Wednesday, Donald Trump repeated allegations of military support for Iran’s Yemenis, saying, “Iran would soon stop sending military supplies to the Huuthis and “let them fight it yourself.”
Trump said Tehran has reduced support for Yemenis, but Iran is “still sending large levels of supplies.” It is unclear whether the president is referring to reports from his officials or to the media.
He argued that Yemenis suffered “risqué damage” as a result of recent massive bombardment by US fighters.
According to local media, Yemenis reported a new series of US fighters in northern and western regions of Yemen early Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the Yemeni military, announced in a television speech that the Yemeni military has targeted the airline of the USS Harry Truman aircraft in the Red Sea, equipped with multiple rockets and drones for the fourth time in the past 72 hours.
Yemeni leader Abdul Malek al-Haucci said he vows to target US assets in the region, as escalations will respond to Yemeni escalations following the new US attack.
As a show of solidarity with the Gaza Strip, Yemeni military has been attacking Israel-related ships through the Red and Arabian Seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden since late 2023.
Yemenis halted the attack in January when a ceasefire was declared between Israeli and Palestinian resistance group Hamas, but threatened to resume the attack on March 2 when Israel blocked all humanitarian aid in Gaza.
