Protesters condemned the attack on the global Sumoud Flotilla and called for international protection of the fleet.
The global “Sumud” convoy, consisting of over 50 ships, set sail from the port of Barcelona in Spain in early September, supporting the people of Gaza and targeting the blockade of the strip. Gradually, additional ships from various parts of the world joined the convoy.
On Monday, 12 drone attacks targeted nine boats at Sumud Flotilla. The network reported extensive flights of many drones on fleet boats.
In response to these attacks and threats, Italian rescue and rescue vessels were dispatched on Wednesday morning to protect the SUMUD fleet. Spain also announced that it would send “operational naval vessels” from Cartagena to the eastern Mediterranean to protect and support the SUMUD convoys on its way to Gaza.
