“We are currently supplying this gas to Turkey through Iran through barters. This agreement is extremely important for the safety of Turkey’s supplies and the expansion and diversification of gas sources,” Baylacter said in an interview with Turkish Channel A Harbor on Sunday.
Turkmen’s gas is being fed to Türkiye at a competitive economic price, he said. “So Turkmen gas is important in terms of reducing our overall natural gas costs. In this regard, the arrival of Turkmen gas to Turkey is invaluable. This year, we will provide ample gas to around 1.5 million households,” he said.
He said Turkey hopes to increase gas supply from Turkmenistan in the future. “In the medium term, transporting Turkish gas to turkey and Europe through pipelines across the Caspian Sea is actually the most ideal and right way to do it, technically and commercially,” he said.
Additionally, Turkey will begin supplying gas this week to the Nakicheban Autonomous Republic (NAR) in Azerbaijan via a pipeline from Igdir to Nakicheban in eastern Turkey, Bayraktal said. “Turkey has secured natural gas imports from 14 different points, one in Bulgaria and another in Greece. Now another export point is added – Nakicheban.
