“We have discovered a new natural gas reserve of 75 billion cubic meters outdoors. This volume will allow us to meet housing needs in just about 3.5 years,” Erdogan said in a speech at the Istanbul Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Training and the opening of the research hospital, reported by the AADOLU Agency (AA).
“Our work at the Goktepe-3 well (Black Sea), which began on March 27th at the seventh generation drilling vessel Abdulhamid Khan, was completed as of yesterday,” he added.
Erdogan highlighted Ankara’s commitment to energy independence. “We will continue our path without stopping, resting, without paying attention to criticism or obstacles until we achieve our goal of a completely energy-independent Türkiye.”
Erdogan said: “We have invested heavily in all areas, from nuclear energy to hydroelectric power, wind to geothermal, solar energy to oil and natural gas.
He further states:
The president emphasized that their natural gas discoveries had a financial value of $30 billion. As part of the Sakarya project, they will develop the field using a floating production platform.
