TEHRAN – The public relations office at QUDS base of the IRGC ground forces has confirmed the martial arts of two members of Iran’s Basiji voluntary forces in Saraban County following the terrorist attack.
According to an official statement released by QUDS Base, the incident occurred on Saturday when Hojatoleslam Sadegh Mahmoudi and Base member Milad Damankesh were ambushed by terrorist elements. The two were traveling in personal vehicles from work to work to home when they were targeted.
Authorities have condemned the attack and described it as a co-ill act aimed at destabilizing the region. No group has yet to assert responsibility for the attack. Security forces have launched an investigation to identify and arrest those involved.
Located in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Balchestan province, Saraban has experienced regular security incidents in recent years and is often associated with extremist groups operating in border areas. The Iranian government has vowed to take decisive action against those responsible for such attacks.
On Friday, Iranian Intelligence Esmaille Katib said terrorist groups attacking Iran’s interests in the southeastern and southwest parts of the country are believed to be linked to foreign intelligence news agencies.
Details of the attack and ongoing investigation will be released in the coming days.
