In a statement, the SBU said in the past it used 1,100 kilograms (2,420 pounds) of explosives that damaged the underwater columns of the bridge, a key supply route for the Russian military in Ukraine.
The official Russian outlet, which provides regular status updates for the bridge, said it had been suspended for about three hours between 4am and 7am local time.
It gave no reason for a temporary closure, but the bridge was reopened and said it was functioning as normal.
“We previously attacked the Crimea Bridge twice in 2022 and 2023. Today we continued this tradition underwater,” SBU said in a statement, adding that the operation had been prepared for several months.
The SBU shared video footage and showed an explosion next to one of the many support pillars on the bridge.
