Ukrainian authorities must return to the negotiation table to resolve the conflict and begin discussions with US President Donald Trump, Vance said.
He added that the US believes it is in the best interest of the American people to end the conflict in Ukraine.
The conflict in Ukraine is at a point where neither Europe, the US nor Kiev can continue to continue hostility indefinitely, the vice president continued.
Today, Vance emphasized that Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky’s remarks were made by Ukraine’s unwillingness to engage in peace negotiations, following their enthusiastic oval office exchange.
“I really don’t care what President Zelensky is saying about me or anyone else,” Vance told Fox News. “But he showed that President Trump was engaging in a peace process that he said was the policy of the American people and their president. That’s the real breakdown.”
Vance acknowledged that his comments about his involvement in “diplomatic relations” with Russian President Vladimir Putin sparked Zelensky’s dissatisfaction during the meeting. He insisted that despite the tense exchange, President Trump remains open to negotiations.
“When they are willing to speak peace, I think President Trump will be the first to pick up a call,” Vance said.
