Civil aviation regulator Rosaviasia claimed that 13 airports across Russia, including three in Moscow and annexed Crimea, had been forced to suspend operations for security checks, the Moscow Times reported.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense forces intercepted 100 Ukrainian-made drones overnight, nearly half of them over the Bryansk region and six over the Moscow region. Five more drones were shot down over annexed Crimea on Wednesday morning.
Bryansk Oblast Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that nine residential buildings and one Miratrug facility were damaged in the airstrike. Miratrug is Russia’s largest meat producer.
Governor Vladimir Vladimirov of the Stavropol region reported a drone attack on an “industrial zone” in Budionovsk and said the attack “did not cause significant damage.” Independent news agency Astra announced that the target had been identified as the Stavrolen petrochemical plant of Lukoil, one of Russia’s largest producers of polyethylene and polypropylene.
Ulyanovsk Oblast Governor Alexei Ruskikh confirmed the drone in the Novospassky district, and Astra said residents had identified the target as the NS-Oil refinery. Ruskiv said emergency crews extinguished the fire at the scene of the drone wreckage about five hours after the attack.
