An investigation by the Special UN Commission declared that Israel carried out genocide acts in the Gaza Strip through the systematic destruction of reproductive health facilities during a bloody onslaught on the territory.
The report on Thursday outlines the broad violations made by the UN Independent International Inquiry Committee on Palestine Territories, including East Al-Kud, with the Committee on Inquiry on Palestinian Territories, and Palestinian women, men, girls and juveniles since October 7, 2023.
“The Israeli authorities have destroyed as a group some of the Palestinian fertility of Gaza as a group, including imposing measures aimed at preventing birth, one of the categories of genocide under the Roman law and the Genocide Treaty,” he said.
The investigation found that Israel engaged in at least two of the five acts classified as genocide by the United Nations Treaty.
These actions amounted to crimes against humanity, along with a surge in obstetric deaths due to limited access to medical supplies, the committee said.
Israel said it “deliberately gives the group (Palestinians) calculated to bring about physical destruction and imposed measures aimed at preventing birth within the group.”
“These violations not only caused serious physical and psychological harm to women and girls, but also had long-term and irreversible consequences for the psychological and reproductive health and infertility outlook for the Palestinians as a whole,” the committee chair said in a statement.
The survey found that Israel carried out systematic assaults targeting healthcare facilities in Gaza, particularly hospitals and clinics that provide reproductive health services.
He said this has almost completely disrupted the health sector’s ability to provide care to pregnant women and newborns.
The survey states that “severe restrictions on essential medical supplies and medicines have directly contributed to the deterioration of reproductive health of women and girls in Gaza, and higher maternal and neonatal mortality.”
The report also denounced Israeli forces of using forced deprivation and sexual assault as part of standard operating procedures to punish Palestinians following the Hamas-led surprise and massive attacks on Zionist groups in October 2023.
