Israel’s plans for a full acquisition of Gaza “must be stopped soon,” according to UN Human Rights Director Volkar Tark.
The Turks said the plan “must be realized on the right side of the two agreed state solutions and Palestinian self-determination, contrary to the International Court of Justice’s ruling that Israel must end its occupation as soon as possible.”
In a landmark ruling last July, the court declared Israel’s occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and ruled that Israel violated international bans on racial segregation and apartheid.
The Turks also said Israel must allow “a full, free flow of humanitarian aid” and that Palestinian armed groups must unconditionally release prisoners of war. He added that Israel should likewise be released, saying “Palestinians were deliberately detained.”
Israeli security ministers have approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan for a military occupation of Gaza city.
