Tehran – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) held an event attended by representatives of private sector partners who participated in a global webinar introducing UNICEF’s new toolkit, “Building a Workplace for Family: Toolkit for Business.”
The event, held on March 6th, was announced by the UNICEF website in a reporter’s release on April 21, and provided guidance to businesses regardless of size, sector or stage to implement family-friendly policies, including paid leave, flexible work arrangements, childcare support, and breastfeeding support.
By minimizing risks to child development and creating workplaces and business practices that support families and children in thriving, businesses contribute to a healthier society and a stronger economy while achieving their employees’ potential.
This toolkit provides an overview of self-diagnostic assessments to determine the level of maturity of a company when implementing family-friendly policies, and step-by-step guidance tailored to four different workplace archetypes with unique needs, constraints and priorities.
Factory: A practical strategy for creating a support environment for factory workers, including flexible working hours and support for affordable quality childcare.
Farm: It focuses on supporting paid leave and childcare, customized solutions for the agricultural environment, focusing on seasonal work patterns and unique needs of farm workers and their families.
Office: Guidelines for office-based companies to implement family-friendly practices, such as remote working options and parental leave policies.
Service-oriented workplace: A service-oriented approach to supporting employees, including shift scheduling flexibility and breastfeeding support.
