Esmaeir Baghihai, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited a newly released report by the UN Human Rights Council’s Committee on Inquiry, denounced the ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime in Gaza.
Baghaei mentioned a 72-page legal analysis issued by a committee chaired by Navi Pillay, which concluded that Israeli authorities and security forces acted with the intention of a massacre to destroy the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
“On September 1, then-Secretary of the UK’s Foreign Secretary David Lamy, in a letter to the chairman of the UK Parliament’s International Development Committee, claimed that #Israel has not committed genocide.” According to the Genocide Convention, genocide crimes only occur when there is concrete intention to destroy the nation, ethnicity, religious organization as a whole or in part. The government has not concluded that Israel is acting with that intention. “The senior Iranian diplomat wrote to X.
“And now: The mandatory committee of the UN #HumanRights Council, led by Navi Pillay, has no doubts about the ongoing cruelty and nature of #Gaza.
“The committee concludes that Israeli authorities and Israeli security forces have the intention to genocide to destroy the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, either in whole or in part.”
He concluded that enablers and apologists of the genocide regime must take legal and moral responsibility and stop active participation and accomplice in the genocide of Palestinians.
