TEHRAN – The United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC), Iran’s Stephen Prienor and CEO of the British Red Cross, Beatrice Bussana Sita, supported the country’s Israeli airstrikes in support of support and solidarity with the Iranian Red Trinkeint Association (IRCS).
“Dear Dr. Koliband, I will reach out to you in solidarity with the people of Iran. I understand that IRCS is on the ground and so many helpers are mobilised.
Priesner wrote a message to IRCS Head Pirhossein Kolivand, and tell us whether the UN can provide support for humanitarian efforts.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the British Red Cross expressed his sadness over the death of Mahdi Zartaj, an IRCS aid worker who taught the Israeli airstrike in East Azarbaijan.
In a letter addressed to Kolivand, Butsana-Sita paid tribute to the humanitarian services of members of the Red Crescent Society of Iran.
“Dear Dr. Koliband, I am deeply saddened to send this sad letter to you.
We are in solidarity with your staff and volunteers who are dealing with the humanitarian situation and admire the commitment and deep sense of humanitarian service from all of the Iranian Red Crescent Association. We rely heavily on the courage and drive of our staff and volunteers who are constantly striving to reach those in need despite the risks and challenges.
We recognize and praise all members of the National Association who continue to work bravely and tirelessly in accordance with the fundamental principles in order to fulfill their humanitarian mission during this extremely difficult time.
On behalf of the British Red Cross, please accept and share our deepest sadness and sympathy with Mahdi Zartaj’s family, friends and colleagues. You and your colleagues will remain in our minds during these difficult times. ”
Two other members of the IRC were killed after Israeli forces targeted rescue and rescue teams who were engaged in emergency operations in Tehran’s 22nd district.
Reports say the IRCS team was in the midst of providing humanitarian assistance during direct attacks by the Zionist regime. The attack led to the martialism of two aid workers, highlighting the brutal nature of the Zionist regime targeting civilians.
ICRC must not remain silent
Kolivand told the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoljaric Egger that it’s not enough to respond to photos of innocent Iranian children killed in the Israeli strike and say “my heart is broken.”
“You shouldn’t be silent. You have to follow up on that (and take action),” said Kolivand, head of IRCS.
Israeli blind attacks attack target children, women, elderly people and sick people, officials added.
