Tehran – Iran’s biggest air defense commander declares that the country is ready to counter the threat, highlighting recent advances in its defensive capabilities.
Speaking on the sidelines of the fourth international conference of Mahdavi activists at Shahid Khezravi specialist training centre on Tuesday, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard said Iranian air defense forces have a system entirely produced in the country, reporter He told the group.
“Our military and air defense are ready to face any threat. All current equipment is 100% homemade, designed and manufactured by our own experts. This technology outweighs potential threats. “We’re doing that,” Sabahiferd said. “Look at our military exercises. The Bavar-373 system is a prime example.”
He further emphasized the continued upgrades, saying, “We have strengthened all our defense systems. The current and next-generation Bavar-373 are unparalleled with the world’s air defense systems.”
In early February, approved by the military’s commander-in-chief, the Chief of Staff appointed Brigadier General Sabahiferd as head of the National Air Defense Headquarters, while maintaining command of the Army’s air defense forces.
Brigadier Rahimzadeh had previously held the post.
Following his appointment as commander of Khatam Al-Anbiya’s joint air defense headquarters, Brigadier General Nasirzadeh met with Sabahifard and congratulated him.
During their meeting, Nasirzadeh praised Sabahifad’s appointment and cited his “faith, commitment, expertise, reliability, valuable experience.” He hoped he succeeded in fulfilling the strategic goals of the Islamic Republic under the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Meanwhile, the US Intelligence Evaluation suggests that Israel could launch a preemptive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities within the next six months. A report compiled by the Co-Chief of Staff and the Intelligence Report Director of the Defense Intelligence Report (DIA) found that Iran’s nuclear sites for Fordaw and Natanz are considered potential targets.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded to the report and warned that Israel could destroy nuclear existence, but Iranian scientists would reconstruct them.
“They are threatening to attack our nuclear facilities, namely Natanz or another site,” Pezeschkian said. “Go ahead if you want. Our young scientists have made them, and if you destroy 100 sites, they will build another 1,000.”
He also denounced US sanctions and diplomatic pressure, claiming Washington wanted Iran’s surrender rather than real negotiations.
Iran repeatedly warned that attacks on the nuclear program would cause a military response.
