Israeli US ambassador Mike Huckabee proposed that if the French government seeks to promote the establishment of such a state even after the October 7th operation by Hamas, France would secure a portion of its territory to create a Palestinian state.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Huckabee said this was the wrong time to promote the creation of a Palestinian state. “It’s incredibly inappropriate in the midst of a war where Israel is going out and dealing with something that the Israelis think is doing something immobilising.”
“October 7 changed a lot. If France is really determined to see a Palestinian state, I will give them a suggestion – cut out a portion of the French Riviera and create a Palestinian state.
Huckabee added that the US will not be participating in the French and Saudi Arabia sponsored conference at the UN on the creation of a Palestinian state later this month.
Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron slammed Israel for its response to the October 7 opening. He argued that the creation of the Palestinian state was “not just a moral obligation, but a political need.”
According to some reports, the French government in Macron’s leadership is considering the unilateral perception of the Palestinian state without demanding that Palestinian authority make peace with Israel or remove Hamas from Gaza’s power.
