Five US F-35 aircraft were seen landing in Puerto Rico on Saturday after President Donald Trump ordered 10 stealth fighters to participate in military accumulation in the Caribbean.
The F-35 was landed at the former Roosevelt Road military base in Seiba, Puerto Rico by contract photographer Ricky Aldoengo, who works for Reuters. US helicopters and Osprey aircraft, as well as other US transport aircraft and military personnel, have been seen at bases recently.
The latest sightings come after a surprise visit to Puerto Rico this week, along with the US Secretary of Defense and the US’s best general amid escalating tensions with Venezuela.
Asked about the aircraft, the Pentagon’s duty spokesman said, “There are currently no changes to the force posture to announce.”
Sources told Reuters last week that the Trump administration had deployed 10 F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico and ordered an operation against the drug cartel.
