TEHRAN – The audio version of Iranian author Vahid Yaminpour’s travelogue about Japan, “The Shrine Priest,” has been released in Tehran.
The audiobook, narrated by Yaminpour, was produced by Samava, an Iranian institute that produces audiobooks, Mehr reported on Friday.
Yaminpour was invited to Japan to participate in the Hiroshima Peace Exhibition along with a group of artists including Maziar Miri and Parviz Parastui. This travelogue is the result of that trip.
During his travels, he met people who lived with dignity and integrity, and witnessed how modern samurai strive to preserve their traditions. He also observed how Japanese women maintain grace and integrity with elegance and nobility despite living in a patriarchal society.
Yaminpour closely analyzes the events that surround him, from Dubai airport, on airplanes, to various cities in Japan. Rather than relying on local myths about Japan, this book delves into the history, geography, culture, and religion of the land with the aim of providing readers with a true understanding of the Land of the Rising Sun.
In part of the book he claims that “the further east you go, the brighter the sun’s light becomes embedded in the human soul.”
