TEHRAN – Iranian President Masudo Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to diplomacy and national sovereignty in a message to Iranians living abroad following a 12-day war with the Israeli regime.
“I believe that the diplomatic window remains open and that we are seriously pursuing this peaceful path by mobilizing all our political abilities,” Pezeschkian said in his massage published Monday. “We support constructive engagement and oppose war, but we will never surrender.”
Referring to the Israeli attacks that marked the beginning of the conflict, the president described it as a betrayal of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
“The Zionist administration attacked us in the midst of negotiations aimed at solving misconceptions and demonstrating the peaceful nature of nuclear activities. Despite deep distrust of the Americans, the Washington-backed administration was preparing for the sixth round of talks.
Pezeshkian described Iran’s response as a legal act of self-defense under international law.
“What we did in the last 12 days was a legal defense against foreign invaders. Despite the great losses, our army was quickly reorganized and fought back against the devastating army under the leadership of the Islamic Revolution.”
The president praised Iranian people for their unity and resilience both within the country and at the diaspora.
“Faced with this attack, Iranians from all walks of life – supporters and critics alike have united.
He also praised the leader’s role, saying that his “calmness, wisdom, strength” laid the foundation for state mobilization, which reminded me of all the enduring unity of the Islamic Republic.
Looking ahead, Pezeshkian said Iran was entering a new stage. This is one of reconstruction, innovation and hope.
He added that Iran’s national security is guaranteed not only by military power, but also by social cohesion and people’s trust.
The president concluded with a clear warning to those who may underestimate Iran, honouring the martyrs of recent wars.
“Our enemies must understand that our troops are now at the pinnacle of their defense. If another act of attack is attempted, the response is even more overwhelming.”
