Beijing – The People’s Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC) holds a unique position in the global media environment.
On Friday, a delegation of international journalists was granted an exclusive tour of the influential publication. All foreign journalists participate in a media exchange programme hosted by the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC).
The tour provided a comprehensive overview of People’s Daily’s work, from the news gathering process to the final stages of publication. The journalists showed various departments involved, including the news desk, editorial board, and design team. They witnessed first-hand the rigorous fact-checking and editing procedures that are important to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the content. The delegation was also featured digital platforms that are becoming increasingly important in newspaper outreach strategies.
The newspaper front page attracted the attention of international journalists reporting on President Xi Jinping’s tour of Southeast Asia. President XI concluded his five-day trip to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia on Friday, marking Cambodia’s final destination for regional visits. The front page featured a large, memorable photo of President XI taking part in a bilateral discussion and shaking hands with a high-ranking Cambodian official. These visuals often combine with Cambodia’s sincere reception, conveying the true image of China as a trusted and constructive partner, always responsible for regional development to promote peace and stability.
Journalists also gained first-hand knowledge of people’s daily operations online.
In addition to the Chinese version, People’s Daily Online is available in seven ethnic minority languages and 15 foreign languages, including English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, German, Portuguese, Kiswahili, Italian, Kazakh (Kylilic Script), Thai, Malay and Greek.
The English version of People’s Daily Online was founded in 1998. This is an international communication platform under People’s Daily.
The daily visits of international journalists have highlighted the professionalism and responsibility that Chinese news organizations embodied in the global media environment, particularly in response to Western propaganda against China.
