“We All Live Here” is a slow, slow-paced, family drama that explores themes of love, a second chance and unexpected connection. The story centers around Lila Kennedy, a woman overwhelmed by life’s challenges. Her marriage is over, her two daughters drift further away, her home is devastated, and her older stepfather quietly moved in without many warnings. Her career is shaking, her love life is entangled with complications, and her feelings are exhausted and lost.
When things don’t seem to be any more overwhelming, her biological father appears at her doorstep when a man who barely remembers that she left her for Hollywood 35 years ago, shows up at her doorstep. His return feels like the last straw, threatening to unravel her already vulnerable sense of security. But as the story unfolds, Lila begins to discover that even the family she thought she could not forgive, she thought she held lessons about love, forgiveness, and what really constitutes the family.
Through quiet and honest moments, the novel delves into the complexities of broken relationships and the healing powers of unexpected reunions. Sometimes it becomes clear that the most meaningful connections are seen in the most unlikely situations.
