US President Donald Trump reported Thursday that the US is very close to securing a nuclear deal with Iran, and Tehran has “a kind of” agreed to the terms, Reuters reported.
According to an AFP pool report, Trump said on a tour of the Persian Gulf that “we are in very serious negotiations with Iran for long-term peace.”
New talks between Iran and US negotiators to resolve the Iranian and the US nuclear programme ended in Oman on Sunday, with further negotiations planned, saying Tehran publicly insisted on continuing peaceful enrichment of uranium.
Tehran and Washington say they prefer diplomacy to resolve decades of nuclear conflict, but negotiators have reached a new nuclear deal and remain deeply divided into several red lines that they must avoid in order to avoid future military action.
